We got to see a Middle Eastern level, set around the 1970's, where the player progressed through an outdoor marketplace. Combat was most reminiscent of Call of Duty, with the player timing his attacks and carefully choosing cover to hide behind. The outdoor visuals, chiefly the lighting and particle effects, were awe-inspiring. The team is using its proprietary Alliance Engine to render massive outdoor environments, in addition to intricate indoor settings.
We weren't sure of the mission objective, if there was one besides "kill all the enemies in your way." Hopefully, the team has plans to incorporate varied gameplay objectives, whether that be to win actual battles, assassinate key characters, or simply wreck havoc. Indeed, our only suggestion for Windwark Mark at this point is to look into adding more diverse gameplay elements to the actual combat sequences, besides the dizzying list of firearms, so as to distinguish the game from other shooters.
Alliance: The Silent War is currently being developed for the PC, but Lang is optimistic that
the game will attract the attention of a publisher looking to release his work on the XBOX 360
platform, as well. We hope to have more details on the game as development advances.
For now, you'll find the first screenshots and trailers at the official site.
