2K Games Announces Launch Date for Borderlands

2K Games announced today that Borderlands, the “role-playing shooter” from Gearbox Software, will hit US stores on October 20 and three days later for the UK and all other territories.
Christopher Hartmannn, president of 2K Games spoke to Gamespot earlier about the decision to launch this winter.
“I don’t think we have to be afraid of competition or shy of what’s out there,” said Hartmann. “I think this holiday season is a little bit lighter in AAA games than last year. It’s actually a good holiday to put something out.”
Borderlands has been attracting attention for a long time, due in part to its high level of customisation. Players can continuously alter their weapons by switching parts with what they find in the Borderlands world and Gearbox have claimed that over 500,000 different combinations are possible.
