Sony Publishing Ghostbusters in Europe; PS3 Version Arrives in June

Sony will be publishing the upcoming Ghostbusters game in all PAL regions, it announced today with a press release. The game will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 in Europe on June 19, with the PSP version arriving sometime in the fall. Its debut coincides with the 25th anniversary Blu-ray edition release of the original film.
“We’re committed to bringing the PlayStation family the biggest and best gaming experiences first,” said Mark Hardy, European Product Marketing Director at SCEE, “and it doesn’t get any bigger and better than this blockbuster title. This summer, PlayStation owners will be the first to grab their proton packs and fight the spirit world.”
Meanwhile, the game will be published as planned by ATARI in North America for all major systems.
“The Sony Computer Entertainment partnership is exclusive to Europe, Atari is going to be publishing on all platforms in the US on June 16,” ATARI president Jim Wilson told GamesIndustry.biz
“We have an opportunity here to have first-party support behind such a significant franchise and the opportunity to then go back and publish the other SKUs later on,” he continued.
It’s expected that the game will release for the PC, Xbox 360, DS and Wii sometime later in Europe. An ATARI rep told VG247 this morning that they’re simply waiting “on official dates” before making an announcement.
We previewed the Wii version of the game, in development at Red Fly Studios, earlier this year.
