Rebuild the World, One Vault At a Time

Bethesda has released the “G.E.C.K.” for PC users today, opening the floodgates for prospective modders to place their own irradiated ideas into the world of Fallout 3. With the editor, users will be able to modify and edit anything within the game, paving the way for new quests, locations, and even improvements that die-hard fans of the originals may want to add in to make it more like home.
If Oblivion’s community is anything to go by, fans can expect plenty of interesting mods to eventually make their way to their favorite download sites ranging from weapon changes, new armor variations, and even NPCs in the coming months. Even before the official release of the editor, clever modders have already managed to add their own tweaks to the game such as removing the level cap, rebalancing some of the factors within the game to make it more like the classics, or allowing certain indestructible NPCs to die like everything else.
The 8.47 MB install can be found on the official site along with a Wiki loaded with tutorials. Even more, including introductory tutorial videos, now available at the BethBlog.
