Ubisoft Confirms Beyond Good and Evil 2; First Media

Ubisoft used their Ubidays 2008 press conference in Paris’ Louvre museum to announce that a sequel to 2003’s Beyond Good and Evil is in production. The original was released to critical acclaim and has become a cult favourite amongst gamers who played it. Disappointing sales, however, had seemingly stifled any hope for a sequel to continue the story and satisfy the demands of fans clamoring for more. Today, their wishes have finally been fulfilled with the confirmation that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development.

The director of the original title, Michel Ancel, had recently hinted that BG&E2 was in pre-production, but it fell to Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot to make it official today by closing the event with an impressive teaser for the game. The trailer was apparently created using the game’s engine and as such should represent how the final game will look. Guillemot himself described the title as the “future of games.”

Platforms or a perspective release date were not under discussion.
