Xbox 360 Spring Showcase 2008: Fable 2 Facts and Media

By Alex Petraglia on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 12:00 PM EST

Set over 500 years after the original, Fable 2 returns players to the dungeons, valleys, and taverns of Albion. Like the first title, Fable 2 is all about providing the player with near-limitless choices…and subsequently the consequences for his actions.

Lionhead is also bringing to the table a dynamic coop system and multiplayer gameplay modes. No friends? You’ll have a canine companion over the course of the singleplayer game, which will provide unconditional love and obedience in exchange for the occasional meal.

Prior to the game’s arrival this holiday season, the studio will release three downloadable minigames on Xbox Live Arcade that will allow players to start earning in-game currency, later to be used for purchasing weapons, armor, and other items for their hero.

Developer Peter Molyneux told Eurogamer that, if he has his druthers, there will be no demo for the game. “There’s no plan for a demo at the moment,” he revealed. “Demos are probably the trickiest and hardest things to design, because there are probably 60- or 70- odd features we introduce to the player, and it takes us about ten to 15 hours to introduce all those. Trying to squeeze some of those down into a demo is really hard, if not impossible. So I would vote not to do a demo.”

Some new media of the game in action.
