Infinity Ward and Treyarch to Continue Call of Duty

Eurogamer has received a statement from Activision debunking a rumor that had been circulating the ‘net concerning supposed negotiations by Infinity Ward to exclusively develop the Call of Duty franchise. Next Generation has also updated its article originally reporting the rumor with the official response which “flatly denies” what was shared with them on Monday.
Both studios are wholly owned by Activision and it appears that both will continue to develop further installments to the franchise. This strategy could work out for Activision by allowing both studios to focus exclusively on their own vision for each release.
Whether it means we’ll be seeing a sequel every other year remains to be seen, although Call of Duty 5 was confirmed as being in development via a PDF fact sheet released in December of last year as part of the joint announcement between Vivendi and Activision to create entertainment juggernaut, Activision Blizzard.
