Demigod, Gas Powered Games’ upcoming team-based action RTS/RPG hybrid, will be published exclusively worldwide by Stardock, the companies have announced today.

“Forging our new partnership with Stardock is a big deal for all of us at GPG, and we couldn’t be more excited about it,” said Chris Taylor, founder and CEO of Gas Powered Games. “Not only do we have a proven retail publisher, but we get to partner with a pioneer in the digital distribution space… a company that totally understands what kind of experience our customer wants and the quality game they demand. The whole proposition is truly refreshing.”

The game will come to both retail and Stardock’s own digital distribution platform, a sort of Steam for strategy games, called Impulse.

“We’re very excited at the opportunity to work with Gas Powered Games,” said Brad Wardell, president and CEO of Stardock. “By integrating our teams and working together, we will be able to create something that represents the best of both teams.”

Gas Powered Games is best known for the Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege series, while Stardock recently released the critically acclaimed space strategy game, Sins of a Solar Empire.

The game is set to be released some time in the spring of 2009, with a public beta launching sometime this summer.

Wired Game|Life had the chance to chat with Wardell and reveals that the game will be released sans copy-protection and will include “friends lists, Xbox 360-style Achievements.”
