Sam & Max Season One Wii-Bound

Several months ago, we reported that a Sam & Max game was rumored to be in development for the Nintendo Wii, but not much else was known about the project.

Today, Telltale Games announced that the first season of their episodic adventure series Sam & Max will be released for the Wii this fall. Consisting of six installments, the game will contain all the episodes from “Culture Shock” through to “Bright Side of the Moon,” which were previously released incrementally over the course of 2006 and 2007 on the PC.

“Nintendo’s Wii is a perfect fit for the Sam & Max games. The series’ story-driven gameplay and episodic structure has often been favorably compared to TV sitcoms. The new Wii version will present Sam & Max in a format that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the living room, either alone or with a group of friends—a setting perfectly suited for this kind of experience,” said Telltale in a statement. “The game’s easy-to-use interface has a low learning curve, making it ideal for the Wii’s broad consumer audience.”

Dreamcatcher will handle the publishing and distribution of the Wii edition under The Adventure Company brand in North America, and JoWooD in Europe. The game is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2008 release.
