Eidos Montreal Job Posting Hints at New Thief Title

In early 2007, Eidos Montreal was founded with the goal of “reviving two successful franchises” owned by parent publisher Eidos.

Deus Ex 3 was announced not long thereafter, but a Thursday news posting on the company’s frontpage revealed that the studio is currently looking for new talent for its second project:

Eidos-Montréal is proud to announce the recruitment for our 2nd “AAA” project…A hint! The title begins with the letter “T”

Discounting Tomb Raider, which is in development already at Crystal Dynamics, the only logical conclusion to be drawn here is that a new Thief game is in the works.

Astute readers will remember that Thief is my single-favorite game of all time, so even the possibility that a new entry in the series could be in the works has resulted in an almost Pavlovian response in me. While the end of Deadly Shadows seemed like a perfect conclusion to the trilogy, I am nonetheless salivating in anticipation for the opportunity to don Garrett’s boots yet again.

We’ll try to coax some details out of Eidos’ PR team next week.

A million thanks to the incomparable RPS for the heads up.
