BioWare: Dragon Age is What Fans Have Been “Wanting Forever”

By Alex Petraglia on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 12:00 PM EST

BioWare senior product manager Matt Atwood must be some sort of mind-reader, because his recent comments that fans have been wanting Dragon Age “forever” is spot on.

First announced at E3 2004, Dragon Age has been the studio’s ginger stepchild. Atwood promises that will change when the game is released sometime prior to April of next year.

The title is essentially the spiritual successor to the company’s immensely popular Baldur’s Gate franchise.

He continued:

“When you make a statement like ‘this is the RPG that people have been waiting for’, then you better back it up and you better spend a hell of a lot of time on it…I think we’re going to be extremely proud and our fans are going to be extremely excited. And you’ll hear more about it pretty quick.”

The game is currently a PC exclusive, but Atwood hinted at the prospects of console releases.

Loved me some Baldur’s Gate back in the day (own everything from the series), so I’m going to keep my eye on this one. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to play an RPG as deep as BG anytime soon but man it would be nice just to have a little Minsc and Boo style humor in a game again.
