Update (March 20 @ 12 PM PST)

EA has just announced that Battlefield: Bad Company will be released for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this June, with a private Xbox Live multiplayer beta starting March 25. GameStop will be distributing beta keys to the first 5,000 people that pre-order the title.

“We’re really excited about this beta since it gives us a chance to let a wider audience play our new multiplayer game, Gold Rush,” said senior producer Karl-Magnus. “The feedback coming back from something like this is crucial for us as developers and will help us with the final changes and polish in the game.”

There was also a new trailer released, which shows off the new Gold Rush mode.

Original Story

According to Eurogamer and DICE, Battlefield: Bad Company is gunning for a summer release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Word comes from Senior producer Karl Magnum (what a badass name) via the latest Major Nelson podcast.

The Battlefield series has always been known for its strong multiplayer, and while Bad Company will support up to 24 players in a wide variety of gameplay modes, there’s a greater focus on the singleplayer campaign this time around.

Eurogamer says: “The story sees you trapped behind enemy lines where you will embark on a quest for gold and revenge. We were promised a deep and cinematic experience full of dark humour and lots of destructible environments…”

More details on the game and its release are promised soon.
