Unconfirmed: Metal Gear Solid 4 Getting Three Versions

By Alex Petraglia on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:30 PM EST

According to the popular gaming publication Famitsu, Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which we recently announced would be arriving in June, will be available in three flavors.

The first, ‘Regular Edition,’ will just be the game itself.

The second, ‘Special Edition,’ will include the game, plus trailers and a making of presentation, all on Blu-ray disc.

Finally, the ‘Premium Pack,’ which includes the special edition, is being bundled with the 80 GB PlayStation 3 that was announced earlier.

It’s not clear if Japan will be the only market to see the three versions or if a similar arrangement is planned for North America and Europe. Nor is it known at this time whether or not the different versions contain unique in-game content.

We have an email in to a Konami rep for some clarification on the matter.

Update: 12:45 PM Wednesday 2/27

Here are the images of the three versions as they appear in Famitsu. The translations are very close to what was stated above.
