GDC 08: Fable 2 Features Dynamic Online Co-op, New Media

Peter Molyneux, head of Fable 2 developer Lionhead Studios, got a chance to demonstrate his upcoming game during Microsoft’s GDC keynote presentation.
On of the highlights of the demonstration was the addition co-op over Xbox Live. At any time during gameplay, another player can instantly teleport in and join you, and any experience or money earned by the joining player can be brought back to their own single-player game. Unfortunately, the visiting player cannot bring their dog companion along with them. In addition, any player that joins the game can affect the game world along the same vein as the hosting player.
An Xbox Live Arcade gambling game will also be released a few weeks prior to Fable 2’s release date, allowing players to earn money that can then be used in the full Xbox 360 game. The game was described by Molyneux as a cross between roulette and craps.
Fable 2 is currently set for a November 15, 2008 release date.
