Dead Space Comic Book Coming in March

Survival horror and comic book fans, ever wanted to just kill two birds with one massive stone? Well, now you can. EA and Image Comics have announced the Dead Space comic series, a new six book series that is set in the Dead Space universe, an upcoming survival horror game to be released in Fall for the PC, 360, and PS3.

Written and illustrated by Ben Templesmith, who did art for Fell and 30 Days of Night, and written by Antony Johnson, who authored Stormbreaker and Three Days in Europe among others, the series is the prequel to the game. It tells the story of a space mining colony unexpectedly unearthing an ancient alien life force from the dark rock and the chaos that ensues. You’d think that after such great movies and graphic novels about humans doing this, we would’ve learned by now.

Even though the first issue won’t go on sale until March, gamers chomping at the bit to get anything Dead Space related can find a limited edition version of the first issue with an exclusive cover at this week’s WonderCon in San Francisco. Ben Templesmith and Antony Johnson will be on hand to sign copies on February 22nd and 23rd at the EA/Image Comics booth. Come early enough and you could be one of 25 others who gets a free copy each day. What better way to start your new gaming love affair than to start your new comic book love affair?
