At an Independent Games Summit discussion on Monday, Dylan Cuthbert of Japan-based Q Games discussed the PixelJunk series of games which they developed for the PlayStation Network. Two of the games, PixelJunk Racers and PixelJunk Monsters are available now and Cuthbert went on to reveal the next two in the series, entitled PixelJunk Eden and PixelJunk Dungeons.
He concluded his discussion by presenting the first footage of PixelJunk Eden, a abstract platform game, wherein you guide a blob through heavily stylised environments gathering pollen which is used to nurture plants and unlock new areas. Cuthbert likened the game to “an organic Mario”. It’s all physics based and stunning to observe. Eden should make a fitting addition to PSN’s stable of experimental games like Everyday Shooter and flOw when it’s released this summer.
