Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that Shane Kim of Microsoft Game Studio, in an interview following the wrap-up of D.I.C.E, revealed that Banjo Threeie will make the 2008 holiday season. The game has been in development awhile, with a teaser trailer shown in 2006, but little else has been revealed about the game. There hasn’t been an official press release concerning the game’s release date and no game retailers have listed the game in their upcoming releases, so anything at this point is speculation.
A source close to Rare has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that what Kim said was indeed correct. Whether this will lead to an official statement in the coming months or not remains to be seen.
Banjo Kazooie has been missing in action since the Nintendo 64 days. With Mario Galaxy out of the way, it looks like it’s time for the return of the second king of platforming. Rare, make it so.
