For those who were eagerly awaiting the Wii release of “Civilization Revolution”, your hopes were dashed when 2K Games announced its cancellation. Rumors abound as to the reasons why but Patrick Klepek over at MTV’s Multiplayer Blog got a chance to speak with Firaxis Programmer Scott Lewis to clear up the confusion.
The official line by 2K Games says:
“Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution is currently on hold. We are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms.”
Scott Lewis, however, clarified the reasoning behind the decision, stating that the PS3 and 360 versions, being lead SKUs, are eating development resources and dollars. If they sell well, then the Wii version may be revived. If they don’t, don’t hold your breath.

I’m interested to see how this is going to turn out on DS.
I am too. That’s also the version I’m buying. I’m on the go a lot and my DS is always with me. I hope it doesn’t end up like Sim City, which was fun, but ultimately not the Sim City experience I wanted.
