A demo for Spark Unlimited and Codemaster’s upcoming alternate-reality World War II shooter, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, is now available from Xbox Live in all regions. The demo weighs in at about 1.25 GB, meaning it will take about a week to download, given Live’s recent performance.

I’ve personally been closely following Fall of Liberty since its announcement in the summer of 2006 and was eager to play through the demo, but the two brief levels provided therein left me unsatisfied. Braindead AI and clunky controls marred my playthrough, but I think the visual design of the game, its intensely cinematic, scripted sequences, and overall story concept could ultimately prove entertaining.

Unforgivable, however, is the game’s ‘Teen’ rating, which means no profanity or gore. And truthfully, what’s a World War II shooter without vicious Nazis who scream obscenities as you pump round after round from an MP40 into their blood-soaked bellies?

The game is scheduled for release within the next few months for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
