EA Leverages Writer’s Strike For Self-Congratulations

Very recently EA sent out the following email to select members of the press:

As the writer’s strike continues to torpedo scripted television, EA is heating up the videogame market! According to a survey released last week from new-media consultancy Interpret, TV viewership has suffered because of the strike, while 26% of people surveyed said they are spending more time playing video games. Games are the perfect alternative to TV – especially as Burnout Paradise, one of the best games of the year, just hit store shelves yesterday. Here are a few more games to fill the void in the winter/summer TV schedule…

While I should mention that publishers very often send out similar press releases congratulating themselves on…well, nothing in particular, the fact that EA used the strike to bolster it’s claims strikes me as slightly reproachful.
