This month’s Game Informer is starting reach subscribers now, and contained within is the first set of concrete details on the sequel to Insomniac’s hit PS3 shooter, Resistance: Fall Of Man.

The single-player mode places a heavy emphasis on co-operative play with up to eight people able to team up and go through the single-player campaign together on PSN and two-player co-op offline.

The narrative is set to follow the original game’s protagonist, Nathan Hale as he travels through the United States. Insomniac aim to use the power of PS3 to create massive landscapes with huge numbers of enemies on-screen and advanced AI. Also, expect the Cloven to play a role in the events of Resistance 2.

The online component is set to receive a significant boost too, with up to 60 people battling it out at one time over PSN. Players will be able to create their own characters and choose a class that suits their style of play with choices like Medic, Heavy Weapons User or Special Ops. Stats tracking on myresistance.net will play an even bigger role in supporting the games community with clan and party features and social networking elements.

Resistance 2 will be released on Playstation 3 in Fall of 2008, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the heavy hitters for the holiday season.
