Just Cause 2 Announced
PSW has revealed the inevitable sequel to 2006’s action sandbox game Just Cause in the publication’s Febuary 2008 issue. Players will take control of CIA black op Rico Rodriguez as he struggles to overthrow the goverment in the South East Asian country of Panau.
The game is once again being handled by Swedish developer Avalanche Studios and will feature an entirely new game engine that will focus more on exploration and less on side missions than in the previous game.
The game will also feature new and enhanced stunts, an improved combat system and more incentive to explore the game’s tropical island setting. The core gameplay and goals from the first game will remain the same, however. This will also be the first game in the series to be built from the ground up for next-gen platforms, unlike the original game which was also developed for the PC, Xbox and PS2.
It should also be noted that the sequel has only been officially announced for the Playstation 3, but considering the previous game’s varied console release, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear it announced for the Xbox 360 and/or PC sometime soon.
