GSC “Seriously Considering” S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MMO

GSC Game World rep ‘Don Reba’ recently revealed in a community Q&A that the development team is “seriously considering” a massively-multiplayer online component to its 2007 open-world shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

The question, “will there be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. online?” was first met with a resounding ‘no,’ due to the complexities of the game’s “Life Simulation” system.

But while Reba ruled out cooperative online multiplayer, he went on to say that the team has a strong desire to do a massively-multiplayer game, presumably set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe.

The team is currently devoted to developing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, a stand-alone prequel set for release in early 2008. Reba answers several questions regarding Clear Sky in the same Q&A.

GSC recently received Xbox 360 development certification, so its possible that both Clear Sky and this potential MMO will make their ways to Microsoft’s console.
