LucasArts & BioWare Announce New Project

BioWare and LucasArts today announced (by way of the newly formed LucasArtsBioware.com) that they will be collaborating on an “interactive entertainment product.” Details for the project will be revealed at a later date. Both companies plan to co-develop the game, and expect that with their combined expertise they’ll make one hell of a product.
According to Jim Ward, president of LucasArts:
“LucasArts has a deep commitment to developing compelling stories and characters for the unique medium of interactive entertainment, and we have been searching for a developer that shares this value. We found this in BioWare. Through our previous collaborations, we know that BioWare has an impressive ability to blend gripping stories with technological advancements, and we believe that our upcoming product will deliver an experience that will span the traditional boundaries of video game entertainment.”
Could this possibly be the long-awaited KOTOR MMO we revealed last week?
Let’s just say we can only surmise our piece was the reason this announcement came when it did.

Remember, it was primotech who informed the world. KOTOR MMO FTW!
Uummm sorry to burst everyone bubble but the romurs of an KOTOR MMO has been floating around since Bioware announced that they were working on an MMO.
They didnt inform they just added a bit to the fire.
Well, there is a lot of money it for them if they did make it. The fact that SWG is basically dead, MMO’s are a big money maker, and Star Wars is a world wide phenomenon. Tell me that they are going to make something and this seems like the most logical game to make IMO.
Time will tell, but I just don’t see why they would NOT make this.
Really the announcement came after one of the guys on our forums found the Lucasartsbioware.com site was registered to BioWare on their equipment. He was the one who found the site after a lot of digging, he questioned them about it ect. No more than 2 days later they made this half baked announcement on that site. This rumor has been around for 2 years now so you guys didn’t exactly uncover the lost ark.

Reiterating a rumor that has been stated over and over again so many times the past 2 years, the rumor itself has become boring hardly forces any one’s hand to do anything. No evidence was given in primo’s article. “We know a guy that said this about that” is not evidence. It’s nothing at all. Solid proof would be finding the lucasartsbioware.com website and finding said site on bioware’s own DNS server. Two days after the site was found a rushed press release was put out. Finding solid proof is a reason for the press release to be put out. Otherwise they would have continued to ignore said rumor as they have done for the past 2 years.
atarifx the official bloodhound of rlmmo found this info.

Not quite. As mentioned above, AtariFX from RLMMO.com was the impetus. But hey, someone had to do it, and it was going to take more than repeating a rumor - he got the proof that forced their hand. Are pre-CU SWG fans obsessive, or just that good?
You’ve been CABALed. Have a fantastically credit-stealing day.
now this is a rumor

I’m sorry guys… but all you have done is push a rumor (one that I believe is true BTW). There have been numerous posts on forums, a couple of articles on professional web sites and 1 printed example of what you posted. You really didn’t do anything.
AtariFx was the guy who went sleuthing and discovered the LEC/Bioware website over a week before the announcement. He also pressured the peeps on the Bioware forums about it.
The response was the press release. It explained the URL… but not he game that being developed.
Props go to AtariFx of www.rlmmo.com
I received an email from AtariFX a few days before the site went live with the details of his discovery. He made no mention of RLMMO. Prior to your comments, I had not heard of the forum (but don’t take that personally; I’m not a huge fan of MMO’s in general).
I believed 100% in his finding, but for some reason I’m not quite sure of, I decided not to post news about the topic prior to something actually appearing on lucasartsbioware.com
