Irrational’s Levine Considers BioShock Downloads

BioShock Downloads

Speaking with Games for Windows magazine this month, BioShock creator Ken Levine shares his thoughts on downloads for BioShock.

He likens it to Diablo II, and says “Diablo II, to me, was a great model for an expansion, because it enhanced the original game, but also extended the game, too. I’m not a really big fan of expanding things just by linearly adding to the experience, adding a new campaign, as much as I am of enhancing the original experience and adding replayability to that experience.”

Noting that it would very difficult to tastefully add to the BioShock storyline, which is close to perfect already, he goes on to admit “I’m a little more confused as far as how to expand the narrative experience.”

What this probably means is new combat techniques and tonics and plasmids, rather than new levels. Thankfully so.

But how about that fabled level editor first, Ken?

And yes, we know it’s 2K Boston now. But it’ll always be Looking Glass Irrational to us.
