Ubisoft Announces New Tom Clancy Air Combat Franchise

Ubisoft’s ever-increasing stable of Tom Clancy franchises just got a bit bigger, as the publisher announced today a brand new IP centered around futuristic air combat. Developed by Ubi’s Bucharest studio for new-gen consoles and the PC, the first title is set to launch in 2008.
Like most other games to bear the author’s name, the title is set in the near future and imagines a world where a private military contractor is advanced enough to launch a strike on the United States. It is unclear which side of the conflict the player will take; perhaps even both. The gamer can customize how much piloting assistance he wants over the course of the game and will engage in “modern air combat, from intense dog fighting to tactical strikes.” Sebastien Delen, managing director of the Bucharest studio, promises intense multiplayer action, but offered no further details at this time.
Ubisoft Bucharest has had past experience with flight combat games; it was responsible for 2006’s Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII.

I mean. Okay. I guess that’s a natural evolution of the franchise. What a moronic idea.
