Mitch Gitelman, the studio manager of FASA Studios, announced today on the team’s official forums that the studio has closed its doors.
Said Gitelman:
‘It is my sad duty to announce that FASA Studio has officially closed its doors. Today was the official last day of employment for those of us who had not moved on to other positions within Microsoft Game Studios. While the rumors have been circulating forever, we chose to wait on an official announcement because we didn’t want people’s attention distracted from our last product, Shadowrun, a game we love.”
Gitelman continued that most FASA employees have found employment with Microsoft Game Studios, which acquired the development team in 1999.
FASA’s credits include the first MechCommander and most recently the not-so-well-received Shadowrun, for the PC and Xbox 360. Several team members will continue to provide support for the game.
