Spielberg and EA
In 2005, EA and legendary Academy Award winning director and producer Steven Spielberg partnered to create three new original franchise properties. This week at E3 2007, details of the first two titles have presented themselves.

“I am a gamer myself and game development has always intrigued me,” said Spielberg. “Now I’ve been able to jump in and do it, enjoying the creative collaboration with the EALA team on our first two games and I feel we have two incredibly unique projects in development.”

The first title, a Wii exclusive, will allow players to compete in over “a hundred challenging, action-packed interactive games that take blocks to a new level of creativity and fun.” Expect to use the Wii controller to build or destroy structures and solve puzzles in single player, co-op, and versus gameplay.

The second and “more ambitious” title for the Playstation 3, XBOX 360, and PC sounds undoubtedly more like Spielberg: a “contemporary action-packed adventure that puts you in the leading role of an emotional journey where your actions tell the tale.” Though not much more is said yet about the story or setting, you will interactive with a mysterious female character who holds the key to your many futures.

EA will hold the rights to the intellectual property and act as developer, publisher, and distributor when the titles are released. Spielberg has been working directly with EA Los Angeles and the studio at Playa Vista to offer his signature artistic vision.
